I was running double earth and creation at the time. i never ran out of gold because i was sacrificing ice queens is what i'm trying to say. i only sacrificed like 5 over the course of 10 turns to turn a volcanic and tropical area to ice so my people weren't so pissed off. and it's not like i was sacrificing dozens of them. and my entire army was mana based so i had mountains of money. Still figheuring out what class i like but my favorite race is elves.Well with the racial the queens were only costing me ~110 gold. Humans could do well on continental maps, mainly thanks to their Mariner skill. High Elves hate the stuff though, keep them out of there as much as possible. Draconians also do okay underground, especially if there is volcanic ground near them. Goblins, followed by Dwarves, are made for the underground. If you play Dwarves/Goblins, be sure to include an Underground layer. Originally posted by Ursus:Depends on your preferred race. Though with Goblins I'd only expand to the surface when you've got an army or two of Tier III-IV units who won't suffer so much from the -5 health penalty that goblins suffer. On that same topic, Goblins do well with Destruction Mastery. None of the other races like arctic terrain, so you can sit back, watch the arctic spread from your (surface) cities, and your non-dwarven enemies swinging in to fight you on your terrain will suffer a morale penalty because of the terrain. Some suggestions on specializations - Dwarves do well with Air Mastery, more specficially the Arctic Empire strategic spell. (as I steamrolled through the closest opposition quickly after emerging.) I'm playing a Dwarven Warlord on a Large map right now, and while I had an interesting first 70-ish turns, after that I made a beachhead on the surface and realized the surface AI hadn't expanded much at all, I'm doing what you describe now - pressing end turn waiting for something to happen. High Elves hate the stuff though, keep them out of there as much as possible.īecause of how the AI works at the moment, a medium map might be best for you.
